Bluefruit Labs is the innovation arm of Bluefruit Software. For over 25 years, we have engineered mission-critical embedded systems for the medical, industrial, and defence sectors. Our work spans embedded software, electronics, signal processing, and machine learning.
Solving hard problems for specialist clients has made us domain experts in these technologies. Bluefruit Labs is where we put that expertise to work, proactively. We identify industry challenges, invest in our own R&D, and develop our findings into licensable products and patented IP.
Our goal is to create IP in partnership with industry-relevant companies. We provide a technical head-start by bringing validated Proofs of Concept to the table, allowing our partners to combine our pre-invested R&D with their own sector expertise to bring new technologies to market at scale.
Our patented EIS architecture
Our core innovation integrates high-precision Analogue Front-End (AFE) circuits with embedded algorithms to measure complex electrical impedance. We extract real-time chemical, physical, and biological data directly from the medium—without destructive sampling.

Embedded analogue front-end circuits inject precisely calibrated AC signals across a wide frequency spectrum, directly into the target medium.
Edge processing
On-chip inference
Complex impedance data is processed on-device to extract impedance spectra, phase angles, and equivalent circuit parameters in real time.
Predictive output
Calibrated diagnostics
Continuous health scores and predictive alerts are surfaced to operators and enterprise systems, supporting pre-failure intervention rather than post-failure response.

Hermetic seal health scoring
Continuous in-situ impedance signature analysis of MEMS package seals. Monitors flight-critical hermetic integrity without physical removal or destructive teardown inspection.
Status: Early Stage. Replaces scheduled teardown inspections.
CO₂ scrubber depletion tracking
Direct chemical depletion measurement for breathing apparatus scrubbers. Replaces conventional estimation methods with real-time molecular consumption tracking and precise end-of-life prediction.
Status: Validated. Replaces conventional consumption estimation.
Gas sensor self-test & lifespan extension
Purely electronic self-diagnosis and health verification for gas detection sensors. Eliminates reliance on scheduled physical bump tests, extends certified lifespan, reduces field service cost.

Sterile peristaltic fluid diagnostics
Non-invasive integrity monitoring of single-use bioreactor pathways and peristaltic tubing. Detects early-stage tubing degradation before catastrophic failure, without breaching the sterile boundary.

Virtual TIC/TOC separation
Inorganic versus organic carbon fractionation through impedance spectroscopy. Eliminates the fouling-prone physical membranes used in conventional TIC/TOC separation.
